REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE AT P&H

Transform Your Farm

At P&H, we define Regenerative Agriculture as a farming and land management approach that enhances soil health, biodiversity, water resources, and climate while improving farm productivity. Guided by this definition, our Regenerative Agriculture efforts focus on five impact areas balancing environmental stewardship with the success of farm businesses.

The Principles of Regenerative Agriculture

Agriculture starts in the soil, and at P&H we believe soil is fundamental to all life on earth. Healthy soil is essential for sustaining plants, animals, and people. That’s why our Regenerative Agriculture Program is centered on improving and preserving soil health.

The principles of Regenerative Agriculture align with the five basic soil health principles:

  1. Cover the Soil: To protect soil from erosion and improve moisture retention.
  2. Reduce Soil Disturbance: To preserve soil structure, enhance water retention, and protect organisms.
  3. Promote Crop Diversity: To reduce soil depletion, reduce pests, and improve nutrient cycling.
  4. Maintain Living Roots: To feed soil microorganisms and build soil.
  5. To incorporate manure from livestock and improve soil, microbial water retention, and microbial activity.
