Sustainable Corn

Grow Your Market Access with Sustainably Grown Corn

P&H is proud to support corn growers in expanding their market access by facilitating participation in one of the world’s leading sustainable agriculture programs.

Select corporations are looking for corn that qualifies as sustainable through the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (SAI) Platform. The initiative includes more than 36,000 farmers in over 60+ countries growing more than 180 different crops globally.

Participation in the initiative requires the completion of a Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA). The FSA is a practical tool that allows corn producers to identify and track the progress of their sustainable farming practices, empowering farmers to demonstrate the great work already being done on their farm.

Completing Your FSA is Easy With P&H

P&H has streamlined the FSA process for corn farmers interested in participating.

  1. An interested grower will need to join the FSA farm management group. The growers will be asked to fill out a quick sustainability self-assessment questionnaire (SAQs).
  2. Based on their answers, producers are classified as bronze, silver or gold, allowing the shipment of sustainable corn to P&H under SAI scoring.
  3. A select group of producers will have an on-farm visit by a verification body to confirm the accuracy of the responses from the questionnaire.

The audit costs are fully covered by P&H. Plus; the FSA only needs to be completed once every three years!

Why Should Farmers Participate in the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative?

  • Market access – An increasing number of companies want to show sustainability in supply chains. Stay ahead of the sustainability requirements – don’t risk falling behind.
  • Limit double work – The SAI platform is recognized by many sustainable schemes, reducing the need for separate certifications.
  • Save time and resources on your investment – The program focuses on gradual improvements to your farm, allowing farmers to implement changes over time without the pressure of immediate perfection.
  • Long term farm resilience – SAI initiatives promote farming that benefits both workers and ecosystems.
  • Engagement with other producers – SAI fosters a community where farmers can share best practices and learn from each other.
